It only took me about 15 minutes to write Donna in its entirety. I got into an argument with my ex-girlfriend that started at 1 o’clock in the morning. She finished yelling at me at 4, and by 4:30 the song was completely finished and I was in my bed fast asleep.
Lyrics
Well all my friends they say you’re no good for me
But I know that they don’t know things
A cigarette red wine and apathy
I guess I’m just over it
Where are you Donna I’m confused
You know I need a girl like you
Oh honey please pick up your phone
To let me know when you’ll be home
So you can put on boxing gloves
And show me all your love
I guess i’ll stay out late tonight
Either way we’ll have a fight
You love to kick me when i’m down
I wanna be where you’re around
Sometimes i wish you’d kick me harder oh
So that i know you really care
Oh oh oh Donna oh oh oh oh oh
